You know what they say; everything old is new again. If you haven't noticed the umpteen paparazzi shots of Hollywood hotshots like Robert Pattinson, Adrian Grenier and Chace Crawford sporting plaid shirts everywhere, it's time to pay attention. This American classic is the one piece you'll buy for school this year. You'll wear it over and over, and make it your own, whether you're the big man on campus, garage band star or half-pipe king. And when you tire of the pattern, toss it back in your closet-'cause you never know when it's comin' around again.
Penn, Nova, Haverford, high school-wherever you hang, plaid is your wardrobe MVP. But don't get bogged down in boring basics. Opt for a white background with a smaller, brighter pattern, like navy and yellow, or orange and green. Then go old school by tossing on a long cardigan (varsity letter, optional), rolling up your cuffs and tying up a pair of tried and true bucks. A class act for sure.
The nineties, remember them? You probably missed the whole grunge thing the first time, but good news: The look is back. Download Pearl Jam and Nirvana to your playlist, and pick your plaids accordingly. This time around it's the same muted palette, but the materials are airier, lighter wovens, not worn-out, downtrodden flannel. Give this graph a jolt of the 21st century, by wearing your shirt unbuttoned and framing it over a tee, or go vintage, throwing it over or under a hoodie. Smells like teen spirit, alright.
You're rad, seriously; into bigger checks and eye-catching hues. You aspire for that Tony Hawk kinda thing, with legendary moves, and a style that's all your own. Of course, bold plaids are right up your alley, er, bowl. For you, the cut is boxier, utilitarian (more room to get air), and the color is in-your-face orange, royal or purple. Sport one with board shorts, and you've nailed the look. Now hope you can work the same magic with your kick flip.
Hey guys-here's the deal: We know, it's beat to spend your free time shopping. A stop over at one or all of these dude-approved stores does the job, and there's no danger of going into overtime. Fashion experience, not required.
